The Manipur International University Act, 2018 (Manipur Act No. 2 of 2019) is finally notified by the State Government of Manipur vide Notification No.2/58/2018-Leg/L dated 14 Feb 2019 issued by Law and Legislative Department of the State Government of Manipur after it has been assented and enacted by the Governor of Manipur on 23 Jan 2019.

The State Government of Manipur passes the Manipur International University Ordinance, 2018 (Manipur Ordinance No.1 of 2018) which was notified in the Official Gazette on 26 June 2018 after its promulgation by the Hon’ble Governor of Manipur.

The State Government of Manipur under the leadership of Chief Minister, Shri. N. Biren Singh represented by Department of Higher and Technical Education has signed a memorandum of understanding with the stake holders in the Northeast Development Summit – 2017 at Imphal, Manipur, held between 21 and 22 November 2017, inaugurated by His Excellency President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind for enhancing and creating world class educational infrastructure in the State of Manipur and for establishing a truly International University in the region under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
